Time Lapse of a Fox Decomposing in the Woods
I find it comforting
to watch the sped-up twitching of the fox
as she sloughs off muscle, fat
Fur matting and shrinking
until only a bare skull smiling
Around her, the flowers open, close
Sun fanning out with each rise and fall
The ferns uncurl but I didn’t ask for this
