On this salty divide

between wind and gust

I wished for thunder

got a marble sky

I wished for every work day

to not feel the same

to not feel like one long

roll with a pause for night

the evening a bridge

day on one side day on the other

neither here nor there

I pretend sky’s a painting

flat squares overlaid on

different colored shapes

as light deepens

I watch the painting drying

ward off time watching

it go under the wheel
